First of all, I wanna thank the people who gave me suggestions on the cutting out sweets and fried foods thing. I appreciate it. Second of all, I joined weight watchers yesterday. I did it on their sight. I think the first meeting is tomorrow, so I'm kind of nurvous. What was your experiences at the meetings? What would you say is the hardest and easiest part of weight watchers in general? Thanks a bunch,
Leslie
awww1 Your name is Leslie? That's my mom's name too. I attended a meeting once, and I'm sorry to say I didn't like it. It was hard to hear the instructor, and all the people around me whined all the time. I mean, all they could talk about was how hard it is to lose weight. Of course it's hard. You bet it is, but there's more to solving a problem than identifying it. I was hoping for a more educational experience. anyway, every weightwatchers center is different. You could have a completely opposite experience. The hardest part I found was measuring the points. I never could find a way to do it in braille. Any ideas.

Oh my gall, I just finished writing a whole response to this, and I accidently hit a key that made it disappear! Let me see if I can recreate the gist of it. *smile*
My partner has been on weight watchers for about 9-months now with very posative results.
I know for the first 5 months or so, she attended the same meeting. When Summer came, she joined a Thursday morning meeting. She says there is definitely a different overall feel depending which meeting you attend. Her favorite has been those Thursday morning meetings, but unfortunately school has started back up and she can't go to a weekday morning meeting. She has found on Saturday mornings and is enjoying that one as well.
Hmmm, the points thing could be a bit challenging. I believe there is a bunch of products listed on Weight Watcher's website. It has been a while since I have visited the site, I don't remember how blind friendly it is.
Here is an online accessible points calculator. Once you gather your info of serving size, calories, fat, and fiber, you plug it into the calculator.

For the most part, it has been quite fun supporting her during this journey. I've gotten quite into, figuring out the points and coming up with substitutions when needed.
One of the lessons that stand out in my mind, is just because that one cookie is 4-points, that does not mean, that 2 cookies will be 8-points. It doesn't always work out that way. *smile*
Lol, we are quite the coffee drinkers, and I remember in the beginning of this, we actually measured the amount of half and half that goes into the 20-ounce thermos, to figure out the point value.
We also have a lot of extra measuring cups hanging about the kitchen, so I can keep the correct serving size inside the serial or to scoop out various dinners. Instead of using a large spoon to dish up the taco meat, we use a half cup or something.
Something else we have gotten into the habit of doing, is since it is just the 2 of us, we have begun dividing our meals into three. A portion for each of us, then a portion for someone's lunch. This instently helped cut back on portion size.
Good luck to you and keep us posted with your experience.
